From Women Write About Comics: Women In... →
In 1999 Gail Simone asked the comics industry and fandom a question: why does this keep happening? Why do so many female characters keep turning up dead? Why are they so often tortured and raped? That was the start of Women In Refrigerators. Today WiR is a widely recognized trope in comics fandom and beyond. No doubt, Gail Simone opened up space for an important conversation that continues to...

Incidentally, if any of you writerly types is looking for a professional editor for hire, I’m going to plug mine. Danielle used to work over at Pocket (now Penguin) but is doing freelance now as well, and she’s lovely to work with.
(And to clarify, she was my editor for my first book, but I still use her on my own for my side projects.)

Note: Because we’re looking at characters who happen to wear stupid costumes, not stupid costumes which happen to contain a crusty bit of character, we won’t include Tarot, Witchblade, Red Sonja, or any other inky emissions spurted onto comics instead of tissue paper.
Starfire, because PG Cinemax is exactly why we read comics about people who can fly and fire...
Whee. Nerve burn-out is a go. (i.e. approved by insurance.) Feb 14th is DDay for the lower lumbar and then we’ll see about the rest.
IDK. I feel both good and bad about this. Good that it’s been approved and that I might find a little relief from the pain…and bad that I even need any of this crap at all. >_<

Heh - I keep seeing all these searches for the next part of Ghosts & Shadows. It’s coming, I promise (I’ll post the link in the sidebar as soon as it goes live.) The prose has been written for a while, but it’s a fairly long and smutty scene and we don’t want to post it until the pictures are all done.
Thanks for your patience.

Mass Effect Fans Fact-Check Mass Effect Novel,... →
fluidfyre:

I’m sorry to do this to you my Mass Effect Friends - but there are people compiling a list of the errors in the newest (horribly written, if the preview is anything to go by) book in the Mass Effect series. Some of this stuff is pretty major - it seems pretty clear no one bothered to play the game before writing this, and no one bothered to check it before shipping it...
